Golden Creeping Jenny (Lysimachia nummularia 'Aurea')

Golden Creeping Jenny is a fast-spreading groundcover perennial that brightens the garden with glowing chartreuse to golden foliage. It quickly fills open spaces, softens hard edges, and adds a flowing texture that works beautifully in beds, containers, and along walls. This low-growing selection is especially useful where you want strong foliage color without adding height. In the right setting, it creates a lush carpet that helps plantings feel fuller and more connected.

Distinctive Features

Golden Creeping Jenny is prized for its trailing stems, round golden leaves, and low mat-forming habit. It usually grows about 2 to 4 inches tall and spreads 12 to 18 inches or more as stems root at the nodes. Small yellow cup-shaped flowers may appear from late spring into summer, though the foliage is the main ornamental feature. In milder climates it may remain semi-evergreen to evergreen, adding even more value through the year.

Growing Conditions

  • Sun: Plant in full sun to part shade, with some afternoon shade helpful in hotter areas to protect the foliage color.
  • Soil: Grow in moist, well-drained soil, though it adapts to a range of garden soils with adequate moisture.
  • Water: Provide regular water and avoid letting the soil dry out for long periods, especially during establishment.
  • Zones: Hardy in USDA Zones 4 to 8.
  • Habit: Expect a low, creeping, mat-forming perennial that trails and roots along the stems.

Ideal Uses

  • Groundcover: Use it to cover bare soil in beds and borders where a low, fast-spreading carpet is needed.
  • Focal Point: Place it where the golden foliage can spill over a wall, container, or bed edge to create a bright textural highlight.
  • Containers: Use it as a spiller in patio pots, window boxes, and hanging baskets where the trailing stems can cascade naturally.
  • Edging: Plant it along paths and border fronts where it can soften lines and connect neighboring plants.
  • Moist Areas: Grow it in consistently moist spots, including near water features, where it can stay lush through the season.

Low Maintenance Care

  • Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist during dry periods to maintain fuller growth and brighter foliage color.
  • Trimming: Trim wandering stems as needed to keep the plant within bounds and maintain a cleaner outline.
  • Division: Lift and divide patches when needed to control spread or refresh overcrowded areas.
  • Mulching: Use mulch lightly around young plantings until the stems knit together and begin covering the soil.
  • Placement: Give it room to spread or plant it where a vigorous trailing habit is an advantage rather than a problem.

Why Choose Golden Creeping Jenny?

  • Bright Foliage Color: Golden leaves bring season-long color even when the plant is not in flower.
  • Fast Coverage: It fills open spaces quickly and helps create a more finished look in the garden.
  • Versatile Use: It works as a groundcover, edging plant, or container spiller in many different designs.
  • Soft Texture: Rounded leaves and trailing stems add a gentler, more flowing texture to planting combinations.
  • Strong Moist-Site Performance: It thrives in evenly moist areas where many other low groundcovers are less reliable.

Golden Creeping Jenny is an excellent choice for gardeners who want bold foliage color in a low, easy-to-use plant. Its trailing habit makes it just as effective spilling from a container as it is weaving through the front of a border. When given consistent moisture and enough room to spread, it becomes a hard-working plant that adds color, texture, and a finished look to the landscape.

delightful read
Format: Kindle
What a delightful read. The characters are awesome, the plot was so good, I loved it. I was intrigued and it kept me wanting more. Told in multiple pov, the book sucks you in and doesn’t let go. I cannot wait to read the next book.

not bad
Format: Kindle
I loved the plot of this book. The characters just didn’t have a lot of depth. The connections and “love” just weren’t communicated very well in the writing. The author didn’t write the sweet psycho trope very well at all either. Lachlan was just a mess of a character.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
